Here at Crumbs & Doilies we love a wedding, and as we move into summer this can only mean one thing… wedding season!
This dessert table from Joe and Annie’s special day included a mouth watering selection of different cakes and bakes, and we think that the end result looked awesome.
Congratulations, Joe and Annie!
Last week we were thrilled to be invited to host an exclusive cupcake decorating workshop at the beautiful Kate Spade Regent st store. 10 lucky Crumbs and Doilies fans had their finger on the pulse, and were the first to sign up within minutes of us posting the event opening on our instagram feed. Our very own baking extraordinaire Sally took the group through their paces, sharing some of our well honed decorating secrets. The workshop was a great success and I think you will all agree, these ladies aced it!
This March saw the 10th birthday of our favourite animated series Simon’s cat. In-case, unlike us, you have never lost hours of your evening to this addictive cartoon, let us introduce you! Simon’s cat follows the adventures of a mischievous and often hilarious fat white cat and his ever suffering owner Simon. Over the last 10 years their youtube following has grown to an impressive 4 million followers and what better way to celebrate than with cake! Here’s a sneak peak of the cake that we made for the party.
Take a look at our behind the scenes video here to see the work that went into this creation. Focusing on the amazing hand painted pictures and the making of the Simon’s Cat 3D model on top. If you haven’t seen any of the hilarious animations over on the Simon’s Cat channel, you MUST MUST MUST! – take a look here to see just what you have been missing out on!
Take a look at these awesome cupcakes made to celebrate the making of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which is out in cinemas this month. Adapted from the best selling novel, this is the story of a book club in Guernsey which was formed during the German occupation in the Second World War. Featuring hand made potato peel pies, gin bottles, letters, and printed book covers, we think that these super fun cupcakes fit the theme perfectly!
Our Easter cupcake selection this year features super cute meringue chicks, delicious golden mini eggs and of course, the obligatory chocolatey birds nest. What’s more they’re available to order right now! Click over to the orders page for more information and to book yourself in for collection or delivery.
Let us do the work for you this year with a lovely mix of our Valentines day cupcakes. These are now available to order online, and will ensure you stay in the good books of the one you love! As always, orders can be placed for delivery across central & south-west London, or for collection from our Soho store & Wandsworth bakery.
As usual team C&D have began thinking about Christmas far earlier than is probably acceptable, complete with the accompanying festive soundtrack! (for inspiration purposes of course) However, luckily for you guys this means that we have loads of time to come up with an amazing Christmas offering. This year our Christmas selection will include all of the usual fabulous suspects such as; Christmas Pudding, Salted Caramel, Christmas Spice and Red Velvet with some superstars like Mince Pie, Chocolate Truffle and Candy Cane!
In addition to our standard offering, we also specialise in really amazing, original corporate cupcakes and can add any logo you like to our fun festive selection. If you don’t want to ferry them all over London, we also arrange deliveries, so we’ve got your corporate gifting covered! Email email@example.com for more info!
We admit it, we’re kind of Harry Potter nerds here at C&D, so when Tej asked us to come up with a Harry Potter cake for a mega-fan, we were all over it! We love the magical, chaotic Diagon Alley, and thought that incorporating it into the design would make for a super fun cake. Our clever decorators hand-made and painstakingly hand-painted each shop-front, creating a very tasty diorama of the real thing. The cake is topped with a (very shiny!) chocolate frog, Bellatrix Lestrange’s wand, the Marauders map, and a big mug of Butterbeer, of course.
We love bespoke work, not least because we get to spend a few hours hand-making cute little Cars/Unicorns/Minions/(Insert current Pixar character here), but also because the whole team gets involved in the creative process. Bespoke cakes don’t always have to be huge, bank-breaking sugarpaste-heavy affairs, and sometimes a delicious dreamy buttercream cake with a few special pieces will do the trick nicely!
Our small gang of office-based cake-obsessives love to come up with bespoke ideas for any budget, and there’s no project too small for the talented decorators in the kitchen! We love this cute little Disney Cars cake we did for Sebastian a few weeks back!
A little casual Googling tells us that the Mr Men Characters were first brought to life in 1971… that makes us feel incredibly old, but is also a testament to how timeless these moralistic little guys (and ladies – let’s not forget the Little Misses!) are. Check out this super fun mix of hand-piped and 3D modeled Mr’s we did for Clara this weekend!
It’s that time of year again, and as much as we’d like to avoid it, it’s inevitable… We’re not talking about the greying sky, the shorter days or the end of Summer, but rather… the end of Bake Off! Tonight marks the very last GBBO as we know it, and we’re going to be consoling ourselves with more than a couple of baked goodies while we curl up to watch the Bake Off finale tonight.
In brighter news, we had the amazing opportunity to support the NSPCC with the annual Childline Ball. This year was extra special as it marked 30 whole years of Childline. This year, the team at NSPCC teamed up with our favourite TV show ever (GBBO obvs!) for a completely Bake-Off themed ball! To ensure an authentic Bake Off experience, we helped to create a Technical Challenge, by providing uniced C&D Cupcakes with plenty of buttercream and sprinkles, for the guests to recreate, and be judged on, some designs we’d prepared earlier.
The evening was captured by the talented guys at CPG Photography, and we’ve included our favourite moments for you here!
Who knew that four years could pass by so quickly? It feels like just yesterday that Olympic fever struck our lovely city. Now it’s Rio’s turn, and we’re super excited… finally some coverage of professional trampolining on National Television! The guys at Seven Dials PR are excited too, apparently, as they commissioned us to create these Olympic themed cupcakes to send to their lucky clients.
When Jo asked us to create her wedding cake and told us to do whatever we wanted, we were pretty excited. The amazingly talented head of the Crumbs kitchen, Sally, created this masterpiece from her own imagination, and we think it’s brilliant. Each beautiful tier is a different decadent flavour inside, which means there was something for all 150 guests. Congratulations Jo!
