You can’t go near the internet without bumping into a Unicorn, at the moment, and we’re not complaining. We love creating edible manifestations of these mythical beasts, and we think they make for the cutest cakes. Lucky Harper got not one but two tiers of Unicorn goodness for her second birthday this weekend. Happy Birthday, Harper, we hope it was magical!
We love bespoke work, not least because we get to spend a few hours hand-making cute little Cars/Unicorns/Minions/(Insert current Pixar character here), but also because the whole team gets involved in the creative process. Bespoke cakes don’t always have to be huge, bank-breaking sugarpaste-heavy affairs, and sometimes a delicious dreamy buttercream cake with a few special pieces will do the trick nicely!
Our small gang of office-based cake-obsessives love to come up with bespoke ideas for any budget, and there’s no project too small for the talented decorators in the kitchen! We love this cute little Disney Cars cake we did for Sebastian a few weeks back!
A little casual Googling tells us that the Mr Men Characters were first brought to life in 1971… that makes us feel incredibly old, but is also a testament to how timeless these moralistic little guys (and ladies – let’s not forget the Little Misses!) are. Check out this super fun mix of hand-piped and 3D modeled Mr’s we did for Clara this weekend!
This September saw 10 years since Wicked, the story of our favourite gravity-defying green lady, first graced the stage in the West End. What better way to celebrate 10 Wicked years than with a sparkly green cake? We gave our classic Unicorn Cake a wicked makeover so that it was greener than Elphaba, added some glitter, green meringues and voila!
We hope the cast and crew LOVED the cake, and we wish them another 10 Wicked years!
Who knew that four years could pass by so quickly? It feels like just yesterday that Olympic fever struck our lovely city. Now it’s Rio’s turn, and we’re super excited… finally some coverage of professional trampolining on National Television! The guys at Seven Dials PR are excited too, apparently, as they commissioned us to create these Olympic themed cupcakes to send to their lucky clients.
The Monsters, Inc movie may be almost 16 years old (I know, right!) but it’s appeal is timeless. We recently did this scarily awesome cake for Hala’s 7th Birthday party! The monstrous cake features hand-made sugarpaste models of the whole gang, lurking outside the many doors of Monstropolis. Happy Birthday, Hala!
If you don’t have a child (or you aren’t) under the age of 12, you probably don’t know who the Octonauts are…. but even if you don’t, you can’t deny that they’re pretty cool dudes. What’s not to love about anthropomorphic animals who live under the sea and go on rad adventures? Nothing! Here’s some super cute Octonauts themed cupcakes we did for a, you guessed it, Octonauts themed birthday party!
We’re no stranger to Dinosaur Cakes here at C&D Towers – we’ve had many requests for all things dinosaur, and for us, it never gets old. This birthday cake, for Jurassic enthusiast James, is our favourite yet! Each tier is hand-painted and adorned with cut-out, painted sugarpaste Dinos. We especially love the intrepid little Jeep, rather alarmingly positioned between an active volcano and a hungry T-Rex…
Despite appearances (drizzly cold June days, anyone!?) Summer is creeping in slowly, and that means it’s WEDDING SEASON! We love how different all of our brides and grooms-to-be are, and how they each have a unique vision for their big day. Emily sent us photos of the beautiful Hydrangeas they’d arranged for the day, and we did the rest. Congrats Emily!
Everybody loves Minions, right? Well I don’t think anybody loves them more than Tristan, who may have broken a world record for “Most Minion Cakes at a Birthday Party” this weekend!
Here’s some fun American Football Cupcakes we did for Max and Matthieu’s 9th Birthday, complete with sugarpaste trophies, chocolate footballs and buttercream grass. Happy Birthday boys!
We’ve had the pleasure of doing many an order for the guys at Simon & Schuster over the years and they always give us the freedom to create something really fun, whatever the occasion. Sara-Jade sent us the poster for their Books & The City event, outlined a few key elements that she wanted us to include and then allowed us to do our thing. We think the end result is pretty great!
